Fancy Floral O-So Chic

This Summer is a great time to go for looks that are no muss no fuss, but still leave you feeling feminine and sexy. Silk chiffon floral dresses and tops do just the trick! These items can be paired with denim and heels for the right amount of casual chicness! Shift dresses in airy cotton with a bright floral print makes a great statement all on its own. It is simple and classy and great for a summer day and transitions well into a summer night with a switch in shoes. Go for balley flats during the day with this look for a sweet girly feel and spunk it up at night with stillettos or pumps!

Definitely make sure to utilize great accessories with this look. Metallics like bronze and gold go well and can be incorporated with bangles or large hoop earrings! Pile the bangles on and definitely layer on the gold necklaces mixed with some ivory like pendants! Check out Forever 21 for some great pieces!

This look is all about the feminine appeal brought down to its simplest form. If you want to feel chic and sexy dare to bare flowers. This is a great look for the summer days and nights and will definitely keep you feeling sexy and sweet.

Dangerous Curves Fashion Show

This past week I was ablet to spend some time with one of Chicago's premier stylist-Tamika Martell! We met up at the Chicago's Shecky's Girls Night Out Event at the Great Hall in Union Station. We talked fashion and goals and pretty much made a new friend!

Tamika is a talented woman with a great company with incredible vision! April 25th from 7-10 she will be hosting the Dangerous Curves Fashion Show. A show that she produced with the Chicago woman's needs in mind.

It is a show dedicated to the many body types of women and showcases current fashion and trends. All proceeds from the show will be donated to 2nd Chance Chicago! This is a great event filled with fashion AND charity! A fabulous way to spend a night!

About Me Astrologically

So Gianna hit some gold with this crazy cool horoscope website!! Now, if you find this interesting check it out...If not that's ok, I thought it would be fun to just let u on in the secret as well!

check out:

I am Scorpio:

Scorpio is the astrology sign of extremes and intensity. Scorpios are very deep, intense people, there is always more then meets the eye. They present a cool, detached and unemotional air to the world yet lying underneath is tremendous power, extreme strength, intense passion and a strong will and a persistent drive. Scorpios have a very penetrative mind, do not be surprised if they ask questions, they are trying to delve deeper and figure things out and survey the situation. They always want to know why, where and any other possible detail they can possibly know. Scorpio's are very weary of the games that other people try to play and they are very aware of it. Scorpios tend to dominate and control anyone that lets them, or anyone that they find weak. The person that a Scorpio respects and holds close to them is treated with amazing kindness, loyalty and generosity. On the outside, a Scorpio has great secretiveness and mystery. This magnetically draws people to them. They are known to be controlling and too ambitious but only because they need control for this makes them feel safe

What it would be like to date me: I'm kinda scary -- I'll be the first to admit it:

Scorpio woman is very emotional, very demanding and very demonstrative. She is full of flair and intrigue, a fascinating woman that the strong A-type personality male will adore, for she presents the right amount of challenge with the right amount of rewards. The Scorpio woman is the ultimate seductive, flirtatious woman. She won't give a man her heart very easily because she is weary of trusting another person. The man will have to go through a series of 'mental testes' in order for the relationship to get solid and close. She may not show it, but she wants a close committed relationship. Ion order for this, the man has to be trusted, has to be affectionate and never try to control her. She is very possessive but the Scorpio woman is so full of mystery, sensuality and passion that most men do not mind being possessed by her

Ranting and Raving in a Fashionable Way!

It kinda bites, this weekend has been pretty nice, and what have I done all day? Sleep on the couch trying to not cough up a lung! Yep, this fashionista came down with an incredibly uncomfortable and ugly cold..Pretty much feel like death warmed up..What makes it worse is I can't stop being a mommy although I am feeling like I am on my death bed....

But, hey isn't that what daddy's and husbands are for?? To help when you are helpless? Well, daddy-o is MIA for wonderful March Maddness and a buddy's bday..2 days off of work for that shit wasn't enough..So, here I lay trying to write an article that is already a day late and care for the cranky bella.

Right now, boys suck and I am voting for the D-word..lol, I am sure I will change my mind about that later..For now ladies and gents bask in some beautiful fashion photos that perked me up today!

E's New Sunday Line-up

Yeah-yeah-yeah--you can make fun of me if you want, but you know you have the same guilty pleasures I do... You try to hide it and you'll always deny it, but you know you can't stop. It's like an addiction..Yep, I'll say it, I'm ADDICTED to REALITY TV...And E always serves it up in huge doses with tons of humor and drama slapped on top like a big ole' cherry on a sunday.....

This past Sunday night E showcased a new TV show called Candy Girls and premiered the newest Keeping up with the Kardashians! Ryan Seacrest does have some talent in there with his witty portrayal of the rich and in the limelight family!

I really enjoyed watching the drama and craziness play out on Candy Girls. I love that they are portraying a minority woman who became an uber successful entrepreneur in an incredibly positive yet dramatically juicy way! I can't wait to see what this season brings of the show...They better not let me down...I'm what I like to call a Reality TV Connoseuir.....Yea, I know the good from the bad and I'll definitely call it out!

Ladies and gents keep tuned for more musings on reality tv, fashion, trends and style tips!

Style File #1

Hey Guys!

Here is my first installment of the style file! I saw some beautiful garments in the Elle trend report! I thought I would share these great pieces with you and give you some tips on how to wear them! The inspiration was a nautical stripe in crazy offbeat colors and great graphic prints! The key to working this look is keeping your confidence level high and accesorizing the look just right! Utilize simple plain bangles in a bright color that flows well with the colors in your outfit! Use bold black belts to offset the brightness in the look! Gladiator sandals in a simple color really help pull this look off as well! It is also great to use the pop of color with neutrals and black! Add a funky striped top to a neutral or black bottom or vice versa! Have fun with this look and it will definitely transition well from Spring into Summer! Keep Checking back!

The Introduction

Hey guys!

Many of you know me already thru the THRIFT-For the Good Find Blog! For those of you who don't I will use this initial post to say hey! My name is Jenny and I am the co-owner and designer of the fashion line: Thrift-for the good find! Recently, Victoria and I joined an artist's collective called "Chipped Red Polish" and in part of joining that we each have branched out into our own specialized/personalized blog!

Just an FYI--Chipped Red Polish is a new crew in Chicago! We are a crew of young aspiring women who each have specialized talents in the arts! We will be hosting great events to promote our work and eachother! Be on the look out for information about up coming events, I will keep you posted!

Also--I will still be writing for THRIFT on a weekly basis as I always do and most of the info will be Thrifter and eco-friendly based in conjunction with showcasing the pieces of the THRIFT fashion line. So, definitely keep posted to that if that is what you love!

This blog, on the other hand, will be catered more to my fashion reporting and design work.....I will utilize my graphic design backgroung, fashion journalism background and of course fashion design background to keep you up to date on the latest trends, hot designers and fashion/art related events in the Chicago-land area! I will also add some fun personal insights on life as well! Like what it is like to be a 23 year old mom with a 1 year old daughter and still be fun and hip in this industry!

Now, on to the introduction! As I said before, I am a freelance fashion stylist, graphic designer, fashion journalist and co-owner/designer of THRIFT! I currently do fashion editorials for multiple Chicago Magazines including: The Chicago Examiner, Chicago Splash Magazine and CHIRemezcla (a Latino cultural e-zine)! I also write for a Philly based magazine called The Wave. All the mags and my articles are linked to this blog so please feel free to check them out!!

I am a 23 year old Puerto Rican woman who grew up in Humboldt Park and have worked my behind off to succeed at whatever I attempt in life! I truly believe that no one should allow themselves to be a victim of their circumstances! I never had much, but I always made the best out of what I did have! I have a 1 year old daughter and I am married..I graduated with an associates in Fashion Design and a bachelors in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising Management with a focus in graphic design and advertising!

Fashion is my passion--I know it is cliche, but it is true! I believe that you can feel and look good with just a tiny bit of effort, whether it be a touch of makeup or a pop of color in an otherwise plain outfit! I would consider Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe my two style icons and Coco Chanel my Fashion Goddess..Each classic and elegant, but each with their own spunky attitude and sexy glamour. I have an A type personality and at times can be incredibly OCD, but I am who I am and I am at a point in life where I understand I need to accept that!

I want to utilize this blog to offer my fashion musings and advice to those who enjoy reading them! I welcome suggestions, comments and yes even questions and style advice! I can be your personal stylist without the price, just hit me up with an email and I will get back to you within 3-5 days!

Take Care All!

Remember, "A girl should be two things in life, classy and fabulous" Coco Chanel.
